Hi, I'm new here. Welcome to my blog!
Welcome to my colorful world! I'm Cheryl, a watercolor artist deeply in love with capturing the soul of nature and the spirit of our furry companions and the serene beauty of New England landscapes. There's something truly special about translating the textures of a dog's coat or the misty hues of a coastal morning onto paper with watercolor.
Although I've always considered myself an artist, my passion for watercolor didn't start until around 2017, when I turned to creativity when life threw me a curveball, and watercolor became my sanctuary. I found I was completely drawn to this medium, and absolutely loved the challenges in learning to use it.
My days are spent in the structured world of graphic design, where pixels and precision reign. Watercolor, on the other hand, demanded I surrender control, embrace the unexpected, and find beauty in the flow. It was a beautiful, and sometimes frustrating, liberation.
Why did I choose the name Tailspin Art Studio? My studio's name, Tailspin Art, is a playful nod to my rescue dog, Taz, whose joyful 'twirlies' always bring a smile. But it's also a reflection of my own journey. When life felt like it was spinning out of control, watercolor became my anchor. So, Tailspin Art represents both the joyful chaos of creativity and the grounding power of art. After starting to share my work on my personal Facebook page, I found that friends would inquire to see if certain things were for sale. That sparked me to move forward with an Etsy page and to start doing local arts and craft fairs. I learned pretty quickly that researching these events was very important. Although you can't really predict the outcome, some venues are definitely better organized than others.
My artistic journey has blossomed in recent months. I'm thrilled to be a resident artist at The Collaborative Gallery in Warren, RI, where my work finds a home alongside other talented creators. You can also find my pieces at Imagine Gift Store, just across the way, and I'm even planning to host watercolor paint nights there, sharing the joy of this medium with others. The focus will be beginner watercolor, where anyone can come, learn, and have fun. I'm also excited to be featured in an article in the Worcester telegram, where I talk about my experiences selling my art on Etsy, and Goimagine. I'm excited to share this creative adventure with you. Let's see what vibrant stories we can paint together! Follow my journey here, and on my social media!
